🌟Finding Our Core Questions - Presidential Election 2023 Edition🌟

This is an exciting period for our nation as we get the opportunity to exercise our democratic right to choose our next president. I am sure that we will be flooded with all kinds of news about the candidates over the next few days before we make our final decision at the ballot box.


Amidst the frenzy of campaign news and candidate buzz, how do we stay focused on what truly matters to us?


🌟Riding The Information Storm Using Questions🌟


In the era of information overload, it's easy to get lost in the noise. I personally find that question storming is a useful process to help us stay clear and focus. Instead of drowning in ideas, we generate meaningful questions that will become our compass, helping us navigate through the noisy campaign promises and political banter. Question storming is a useful leadership tool not just for this election season. It is useful when we lead projects where there are multiple sources of conflicting information and perspectives. Instead of rushing to lean toward a certain perspective, slowing down the process to focus on what our driving questions are can bring us to a clearer and more encompassing understanding of an issue.


🌟Why Questions Matter More Than Answers🌟


Indeed, asking the right questions is often more vital than finding immediate answers. Rushing to answers without a solid foundation of questions can lead us astray. When we are clear on the core questions, our quest for answers becomes more intentional and less easily distracted by the noises.


For this presidential election, my core questions are:


  • 🤝 How closely do the candidate's values and actions align with mine, especially in the face of campaign pressures and challenges?

  • ⚖ How confident am I in the candidate's ability to maintain independence in thoughts and actions from both ends of the political spectrum?

  • 🗝 Can I trust the candidate as a steward of our nation's reserves, ensuring financial security for my son’s and my grandchildren’s generations?

  • 🌎How capable is the candidate of projecting our Singapore perspective as the credible and sensible voice on the international stage?

  • 📈 What impact will the candidate have on the growth/progress of our democracy, if elected?

  • 💫 How inspired am I by the candidate's commitment to causes beyond his main duties?


These questions will be my North Star🌟as I listen closely to each candidate’s speeches and watch how they conduct their campaigns.
